Deceived Synopsis
In Deceived we meet Bella Hammond, widow of a decorated marine, who has been struggling to raise her two kids and keep her business going for the last seven years.
When she discovers that someone has fraudulently taken out a loan against her ranch, she is desperate to find out who is behind it, before she loses the only home her kids have known, and the land that has been in her late husband’s family for generations. With business on the downward slope, and now a debt she can’t afford to repay, she finds herself in a desperate situation, with nobody to turn to for help.
Brandon Campbell has finally paid off the debts that built up paying for his late wife’s medical care, and is finally enjoying being financially solvent for the first time in five years.
When Ryan Tucker, Stalwart’s CEO offers him a chance to go on an all-expenses paid vacation to an adventure ranch in Arizona, taking his daughter and two best friends along for the ride, Brandon honestly can’t see a down side. Horse-riding, hiking, quad-biking and fresh air for two weeks? Hell, where does he sign up?
Of course, there’s a little work to be done during the vacation, a bit of snooping and asking a few questions, but that’s hardly going to take up much time, is it?
Confused by the instant attraction he feels for the beautiful widow, Brandon is hard pressed to focus on the job, as he realises that his heart hasn’t been turned to stone following his wife’s death as he’d assumed.
But as Bella’s problems escalate and take on a sinister twist, Brandon finds himself between a rock and a hard place.
Either he tells her why he’s there, and risks losing any affection that’s been building between them, or he tells her nothing, and risks everything imploding when she finds out just how badly she’s been deceived.
Why can’t anything ever be simple?
